Welcome to the 24-7 Prayer Employee Orientation Pack. It’s full of lots of useful information, but before we start, I’d like to set the stage.
Thank you for coming to work with 24-7. We recognize that working with us is not just a vocation, but a calling and that you have sacrificed many things to work with us (big pay cheques, possibly your sanity). We hope that you find this an environment that is supportive and allows you to pursue all that God has called you to be. We look forward to working with you and being part of a team.
This portfolio looks a little big and scary. Let me explain. While 24-7 is a very small and family-type organization, it is a registered charity and registered employer with the UK. As such, we have certain legal obligations to the state. Some of the forms in this portfolio may not seem to fit with the 24-7 culture. We are trying very hard to be good stewards of the resources given to us - both the people God has entrusted to us as employees and the favour the state has shown us. If you have any questions about the forms, or any of the paperwork, please talk to your line manager. We are very transparent about why we use all the items in the pack.
We also want to inspire you during this orientation! God has called us all to unique ministries, yet all within the same body:
- "But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. This is why it says
- When he ascended on high,
- he led captives in his train
- and gave gifts to men.
- (What does 'he ascended' mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
- Ephesians 4:7-13"
We each have been given the grace to live out our calling. Working together, 24-7 can reconcile the world to God through Jesus Christ by mobilising the Church in prayer, mission and justice.
Enjoy your orientation! If you have any questions, let your line manager or the COO know. Welcome to the team.
