The relationship between the National Prayer team and the International Prayer team
The International teams are influencers who set the climate within their sphere. The national teams are leading and directing their nation within that climate. For example the International Prayer Team may feel that God is calling the international community to focus on spreading encouragement throughout the church. The DE team and specifically the DE Prayer leader and director would then decide to what degree that relates to the Germany and how they might do that within their own context. They may decide that they will establish a regular rhythm of praying for prayer groups and gathering and telling stories better.
The International Teams are also available for consultation at the invitation of the national team or sphere leader. For example the SE Prayer Team leader may be reviewing prayer resources and could call the International Prayer Team to consult on what is best practice and priorities in other nations and internationally.
Prayer Support Team Leader
The RACI model is great for not only defining a prayer team leader’s role and responsibilities but also whom they are accountable to and whom they keep informed. The RACI acronym works as follows:
The R stands for Responsible. The person who is responsible for an area is the person who is going to deliver it, and they may do this with or without the help of others. They are also responsible for reporting progress – they are the person who will know exactly what current performance is, whether or not there is additional capacity or under capacity to deliver against the responsibility, etc. Any decisions made without reference to the responsible party will put at risk ability to deliver to existing or new commitments.
A is for Accountable. The responsible party will have to explain why they have taken certain courses of action, and give reports to those that they are accountable to, on progress against agreed objectives.
C is for Consulted. The consulted party will have input to the area of work in question. They have the ability to shape the area in question, but no veto on decision-making.
I is for Informed. Informed parties will be sent information on decisions made by the responsible party, as the information may be of interest to them.
The International Prayer Team expects each prayer team to work towards the responsibilities below. This table is best read in consultation with an International Prayer Team member to further explain the areas of responsibility.
