Hospitality

In all our areas of operation, 24-7 Prayer seeks to be generous in hospitality where possible. We do however need to ensure that our generosity is in line with the objects of our charity, and therefore need to bear in mind the following:

Entertaining (in terms of providing flights, accommodation food etc.) for a leader within an organisation that 24-7 is seeking to build relationship with is almost certainly fine, even if it includes their spouse where they are travelling as a couple.

However, if the relationship between 24-7 and the other organisation may develop into one in which items of value are transferred (this could include not only financial resources, but valuable private information for example), we must not be seen to offer hospitality that could be construed to influence a decision perceived to be of value to both us and to the third party, providing a personal benefit to them. This would be frowned upon under the new bribery act (2010), and would in certain circumstances constitute an illegal act.

If you are in any doubt as to the appropriateness of any proposed hospitality payments, please refer your questions to the Financial Director.
