Convering talks to MP3

Make sure the the MP3 files you create are:

  • in MONO (a stereo MP3 is twice a big, and not necessary for voice recordings)
  • at a bit-rate of 32 kbps (this is the smallest bit-rate, perfectly good for voice recordings)

Otherwise, you are wasting five things:

  • Your time uploading needlessly large files
  • Space on the 24-7 web server, which is a finite resource
  • Internet bandwidth ... it ultimately costs various people money for you to transfer data
  • The customer's time downloading the file
  • Space on the customer's hard disk

Recommended software is Audacity (PC/Mac)
