Roles and Responsibilities of the New International 24-7 Leadership Fractal

April 2009

Growth in size & international spread require:

  • more streamlined (simpler) leadership alignments
  • more accessible strategy support for Pete Greig
  • improved communication between visionary leaders and administration

Changes:

  • The Board is a new, small decision-making group comprising Pete Greig (International Leader), Jon Petersen (Americas), Ian Nicholson (Europe) and James Thomas (chair of Trustees).
  • The 24-7Council (formerly International Sponsors Team (IST) provides spiritual and strategic counsel to the Board
  • The ILT (International Leadership Team) represents the National Sponsors & International Leaders through International Prayer, Communities & Operations & implements the vision of the Board

International Leadership Fractal:

Whilst decision-making and communication are being strengthened through a new structure, the essential pattern is loosely based on a Trinitarian model of inter-dependent relationship. This ensures that the character & core values of 24-7 remain a representation of the true source of our visioning & decision-making.

The 24-7 Board

Looking to the example of God the Father, the Board’s responsibility is to provide strategic initiative, loving guidance (direction) and discipline to the ILT.

The 24-7 Board:

  • Provides development and oversight of 24-7 objectives & values
  • Executive oversight with emphasis on strategic direction, financial oversight and spiritual development of the International Prayer and Community movements.
  • Solicits input from and communicates direction to the Council and ILT
  • Appoints any additions or changes to the members of the ILT
  • Sets expectations and direction for the ministry
  • Pete Greig is the Leader of the ILT and he & Ian Nicholson provide the interface between the Board and the ILT
  • Provides for reviews of - and oversees - the ILT. Individuals on the board provide line management for the members of the ILT
  • At least one member of the Board interfaces with the Trustees
  • Will make appointments to the Council and other key posts
  • Will share the key directives of 24-7 Prayer and receive advice from:

The 24-7 ILT (International Leadership Team)

Looking to God the Son, the Leadership Team’s responsibilities are to incarnate the vision and values of the Board sacrificially and passionately as a servant team.

The 24-7 ILT:

  • Is comprised of those International Team Leaders who oversee the three key areas of Communities, Prayer and Operations, plus the Leader of the UK Team and one member of the Board representing all 24-7 National Sponsors.
  • Is accountable to the ILT Leader (a member of the Board) on progress and development of objectives, who attends all ILT meetings.
  • Sets and delivers on objectives, goals and strategies in line with expectations set by the ILT leader and the Board.
  • Team manages representation of 24-7 to the public within their sphere
  • Serves and empowers the National entities of 24-7 Prayer.

Meets twice monthly with minutes provided to National Sponsors.

The 24-7 Council

Looking to the example of God the Holy Spirit, the Council seeks to bring advocacy, counsel, intercession and empowerment to the Board and ILT by praying consulting, encouraging, nurturing and protecting the spiritual and operational direction of the movement.

The 24-7 Council:

  • Convenes twice a year for major strategic discussions on which we need to hear one another and about which we will also pray and make space to hear from the Lord.
  • Spiritual and operational advice given to the Board and ILT on direction of the international 24-7 community.
  • Throughout the year the Council members are available to the Board and ILT should problems arise or counsel be required.
  • The Council has no executive power/responsibility within 24-7 Prayer.
  • All are active leaders in and advocates of 24-7 Prayer
